Prepare your current home for sale - Buying a home is an emotional decision for both sellers and buyers. Simple cleaning and organizing can make a difference in the mind of a potential home buyer. Here are some tips for preparing your home for sale:
- First impressions are very important...make sure when people pull in your driveway, the lawn is maintained, the porch swept and no garbage or debris is within sight.
- Make sure carpets and floors are clean. All surface areas such as counter tops and shelves should be free of clutter.
- The way the home smells is very important. Some realtors even recommend that a pie baking in the oven will add to the whole presentation of the home.
- Keep in mind, closets will be opened and should look organized and presentable.
- All walls should appear clean and consistent. Any holes in walls should be spackled and painted.
- All appliances should be cleaned and in good working order.
- Windows need to be cleaned of all smudges and prints.
- Animals should be kept contained when showing your home. Not everybody is a dog or cat lover.
- The bathrooms should be spotless. This includes showers, tubs, floors, sinks, toilets and mirrors. Make sure garbage is removed and bathroom toiletries available.
- Fixtures should be cleaned and in working order. This includes replacing any bad light bulbs.
- Other helpful aesthetics might be fresh flowers, snacks, beverages, soft music, a burning fireplace in the winter time, and so on.
All in all, you want to make your home feel as comfortable and welcoming as possible!!
